July 07, 2007: "inquiries: aquatic and arctic"
in a different life, my bathroom shower sported the friendly creatures of the sea on its curtain. and me, well, i was living a nice existence in the lavatories myself, being that i was able to ogle the lovely ducks. regrettably, the ducks have gone south for the winter. and by south, i mean the garbage. and by the winter, i mean not the winter; i think they got the boot sometime in may. in the wake of their disposal, a map of the world was purchased to fill the empty void that is my heart shower rod. i'll admit, it's not the same, but i was in need of a globe anyway, and those are like $3403.948 (rounded up!). so you might have guessed i've never really been into a globe store (?), but those expenses are ballpark, and although globes are round, when it comes to averting water, they are clearly defeatist.

in brief, shower curtains that have a map of the world on them are better than globes. actually, this originally wasn't going to be the moral of my post because i really wanted to talk about armenia, which came into mind when i was cleansing myself tonight... but i'll take it, and you will, too.

in other news, live earth is happening as we speak, and i hope everyone is enjoying all of the global awareness regarding the devastation we've inflicted on the environment. i know i am. although spreading this knowledge is a wonderful idea, i wonder how many positive results it will truly generate because as far as i can see, we just accrued two billion people on all seven continents to witness entertainment that calls for many many volts of electricity, if anything.

another thing i was really thinking about was if the penguins are the primary audience in the antarctic performances.

Thanks for commenting on my blog. ^^

Wow, those sound like cool shower curtains. Mine are white.... and moldy... T_T

Yeah, global warming is seriosously a problem.
The poor polar bears and penguins.

My shower curtains catch mould in weeks. Therefore not much bonding happens ): Ah well, a map of the world will surely proove entertaining in a dull routine, no?

You're right about Live Earth - great idea, bad way to enforce it. They turned off all the unnecessary lighting so only the stage lights were on. That was cool. But I doubt that's going to be a regular occurence. Anyway, I think it's the little things that can help the Earth, like using a different light bulb or recycling.

Aww poor duckies, they have reached the end. But alas, you have at least managed to find a replacement of a very cool world map shower curtain. It probably is much better than a globe, I was too cheap to buy one so I did paper-mache. My floor was glued with newspapers for a few weeks till I managed to scrape it all off :P.

I am glad that there is now more awareness about global warming these days; after watching An Inconvenient Truth, I managed to really think about the harmful things we as humans have done to this earth. Hopefully the penguins managed to get a glimpse of the Live Earth; cause you never know they probably was watching it while they were getting a nice tan and sipping their pina coladas (they have to keep cool with all this global warming happening) !!!

What a cool idea to have a map on your shower curtain. Mine always have a solid color because I want it to fit to the other colors of my toilet (yes I decorate/design my toilet :p) so I wouldn't get one although I love the idea. Having some comic strips on a shower curtain could be entertaining too... hmm. :D
I missed Live Earth. :( I only saw in the news today that it had about two milliard viewers.

Your layout is adorable; I like the quote from the rabbit, haha. Holy snap, globes are EXPENSIVE!? My dad tivo(ed) this for me so I could watch it since I had to work last yesterday. I'm excited to see it today.

Yes, a shower curtain with a world map on it is definitely better than a globe at protecting the rest of your bathroom from water. lol.

I agree with you 100% about the global awareness thing.. I went to an "Earth Day Festival" a few years back.. and although I commend their efforts and the whole "idea" behind it.. the entire event in itself wasn't too "eco friendly" if you know what i mean.
