August 23, 2007: "tuna and gelato"
i had a productive day today, of which consisted of some formal party gift shopping at CVS. remember in a previous entry where i asked for advice regarding the gift of giving? well, i didn't quite listen - give wine? what? in the world of giving, gummy bears prevail. actually, gummy bears pretty much triumph in the WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD.
it's not that i frequently rely on drug stores to solve my gifting troubles, but it was the most plausible establishment in the vicinity of the restaurant i was lunching at. i mean, there was a bagel world, but the party's tomorrow, and i'm not sure how stale bagels compare to this awesome, guitar-shaped coin jar with elvis's face i got instead. it towers at three feet high, and i'm pretty sure awesome doesn't even begin to describe it. if you turn your head a little to the right and have really poor eyesight, it loosely resembles an oversized beer bottle.
tell me, what is cooler than that?
so, today, i found out that the price of awesomeness is $12.99 plus new jersey tax. it's a shame i left the pseudo bottle of beer (PBB) at a friend's, but i hope i can snap a photo before the lucky hostess gets her present tomorrow.
and i originally titled this entry "tuna and gelato" in the prospect of writing about my experience holed up in a coffeeshop for many hours doing work (this being the productive aspect of my day), but i'm content with the story of PBB. however, said coffeehouse spells the cafe in its name with two "f's," and am i the only one who every so often pronounces it as if rhymed with taffy?
"shoppe" has the same effect on me.

I always ponder about gift-giving weeks/months in advance, cause I suck at giving gifts. And the ideas that I get that seem AWESOME at the time, turn out not so awesome when I actually give the gift, haha!
I always used to pronounce "cafe" with a long a, like "make". I also read "shoppe" as "shoppay"... I have no idea how it's supposed to be pronounced haha.

Ok, for your entry. I'm not good at giving gifts to people I don't know well... And I am totally for things that can be mistaken for giant beer bottles. LOL I would love to see pictures! OMG I DO THAT TOO. I would so say "caffy" in my mind, and I read shoppe as "shoppay".
Ah, thanks for your two comments! I've been so busy with class it's hard to respond right away. Oh man, I know, and I used to trip a lot! At least my phone isn't new, and I bought a case for my iPod, but my old one had some accidents and an "accident". I also hate scraping my knees, stingy! XO lol Thanks for the advice, too. I already yelled at them a lot, and now I've got outside help, too, which is good... They don't even like care where or if I sleep and one girl doesn't seem to want me sleeping on the futon, even...they're just brats, I think. But I'm willing to put up a friendly facade to get through the year once my things are set up, but we'll never really get along. Oh well. XD Yeah, my days are getting little better now, and hey it's the weekend, so I'm going home! ^_^ Haha, I might consider the guy who left his cellphone maybe later on, but for right now I already like someone else. =3

haha, I hate "caffe", too. This isn't Italy. If I want a large, I'll order a large, not a stupid "venti" or "grande" or whatever psuedo italian/french terms they come up with.

I'm horrible at giving gifts to people. I just get them gift cards. :) It's so much easier then going out and figuring out what the person wants. If I were the birthday person, I'd much rather receive cold hard cash then something else. :)
