October 27, 2007: "a DISEASED blogger writes"
i'm alive!

and i do expect all of you are athrill at this idea.

(i was initially going to use "tingly" rather than "athrill," but some mental quarter of my mind was all like, "dearest connie, surely you are capable of a more refined word than tingly" and i was all like, "heck yeah i am." but i still enjoy saying tingly. tingly.)

i came down with a bit of a virus last week where i just literally slept and watched television all day. the virus basically rendered me completely stagnant, unable to eat or talk, which is one of the worst things that could happen to me - of all people - because I LOVE TO DO BOTH. my lips were besprinkled with - oh, i'd say, about 2353 minuscule cuts that seared, slashed, and corroded every fiber of my being. so needless to say, both my body and spirit were weakened, and what made it so much worse was that a so you think you can dance marathon was all that was on during my period of vegetation.

ouch. benji won, by the way.

so, if you were wondering, it was the herpes (simplex virus) that did this to me. and whenever i told people this, they gave me the usual "i'm so sorry! feel better!" while subtly glancing at where they thought the virus had also affected me (in addition to my face and mouth), to which i abruptly replied "IT'S NOT GENITAL HERPES." and then i got a whole lot of "ohh... well, feel better."

yeah, okay.

before i knew what was wrong with me (you know, the herpes) or was able to get to a doctor, i had let a friend know that i wouldn't be able to go to class that day. she called me back shortly that morning and in a panic told me to go see a doctor because she was listening to the radio when she came up with the idea that i had the staph infection. i'm not sure if you're aware of it, but the staph infection has been in the news lately, purportedly responsible for the deaths of several people. i'm not going to go into it because i personally think it's slightly exaggerated hysteria, but if you use the magic of google, you might get some gross photos of it and possibly learn some things, too.

anyway, so i didn't have a staph infection - just plain, NOT GENITAL herpes. good day!

I like the rainy layout! :D

I hope your herpes recovery is swift! And that you can eat and talk again (torture!)

[Jenn~] Sunday, November 4th

Oo, love the layout. ^_^

Eww,that sounded horrible. Hope you are feeling much better now. I can imagine not being able to eat or talk -- sucks.

Happy November to you too!

I have to comment that I love the new layout that you have. It looks really gorgeous!

I always find kids at school making jokes about the "Non-Genital Herpes" , and I am glad to hear that you still alive. Hopefully your virus has managed to pass because watching a So You Think You Can Dance marathon is severe punishment enough. To spend a day without eating or talking also seems quite horrifying (though let me repeat not as traumatizing as watching the dance marathon) , I have no idea how you managed to survive both of that. Poor poor you...

Feel better.

I think the Staph thing is making people hysterical for no reason but it is very dangerous. I should know, I took a microbiology class and I was working with it for like a month.

[Kaisa] Friday, November 2nd

OH, ouch much? I've had plain, not genital, herpes as well, but never that bad :/

[Keng] Friday, November 2nd

You should've totally used tingly! TINGLY!! Because seriously. Tingly > Athrill. Take my word for it. ;)

Sorry to hear about the virus. :/ Getting sick with something always sucks. And hee at the reactions to "herpes"---blame all the TV commercials for medication against genital herpes!!! :P

It's quite funny, me and my roomie were talking about that staph infection thing and how we don't even KNOW what staph infection IS. XD 'Cause we saw it on the news, but I guess we only saw the last part and missed the explanation as to what causes it, what it is, etc etc. :P

Wow, I love the new layout! It's pretty and mysterious but subdued enough for the colder months. =D I really like the picture at the bottom of the page, too. ^_^ Love it!

Yum. Herpes is such a sexy word! I think I'll use it more often. Herpes. Her. Piece? Um.

I hope you're well by now. Herpes sucks! Haha. Herpes!

[Esme] Tuesday, October 30th

i love watching so you think you can dance! It's so good!

hope you feel better =)

I've heard rumors of the staph infection, good to hear that you're not afflicted with it. How can you be SURE it's not genital herpes, eh??? Just kidding. Today I heard a really interesting lecture on how herpes affects the peripheral nervous system and attacks association synaptic something or others... anyways, feel better! And there's no faux sympathy here, just genuine :D

[Ciel] Monday, October 29th

yeah people can be pretty stupid. LOL i once had this infection on my eye and my doctor just thought it was herpes as well. but i never told anybody because well i figured the reactions i would get would only be lame.

[Nanda] Monday, October 29th

lol, and I thought "herpes...it reminds me of something" but I couldn't recall what it was. Anyway it must've been a horrible, boring week for you. It sucks that you weren't able to eat anything (I love eating [and talking], too!). :( Hopefully you're feeling much better now.

Reply to your comment - Yeah I've played Starcraft too (great game, btw), but I don't think there's a RPG of Starcraft? I wish there were though, it would be fun. And when you talked about it I thought: maybe they should make a MMORPG for Starcraft as well, but that might be a bit tricky. O well :D Yes WoW is a great game. :)

[Jess] Monday, October 29th

Your alive? AWESOME!!
Reminds me of a joke the other day (not completely relevent)
Friend: I can't believe I got my lip piereced! I keep tongueing it just to check
Friend 2: But you know it's there, yet you have to check? It's like... omg yes, I have a face!
Friend: It just makes me feel so happy
Friend 2: I mean, you'd be like... YEEESSSS!! I WAS -BORN-!! *air punch*
Lmao. Was funny at the time.

Ouches, your virus sounded horrible. I know theres plain herpes as cold sores, but I didn't know it would render you to become all tired and (synonym for out of energy... oh!) lethargic. Unless you just slept since you had nothing else to do?

There's one dance from So you think you can dance, from last year (the one benji and heidi was in), that I WANT SO BADLY. I want a video of it. The one where Heidi dances with either someone, I can't remember who, and there's the garden bench. I think the song was Rocket Summer - Never knew. It was the most beautiful thing everr I loved it.

Glad you didn't get staph infection, looks horrible = some pictures looked like burns. Ouch.

[Cynthia] Sunday, October 28th

LOL! Sexual herpes, hahaha. That sucks, now looking at pictures of it. :( I thought it'd be something like a cold sore, eeeee...

[Nayana] Sunday, October 28th

I never heard of plain herpes before. I know that a cold sore is a form of herpes but I never knew it was like a huge cold kinda thing? Wierd. I shall perhaps research that a little bit.
But glad you are feeling a lot better now. And that you are back online =)
Haha wow that episode was an old one. Benji won like two years ago LOL =P

Take care
... xox ...

[*chanel.] Sunday, October 28th

As you already know, people are ignorant as fuck. They don't know there's a difference between herpes simplex 1 (cold sores) and herpes simplex 2 (std). So be prepared for the unwarranted backlash.

[Courtney] Sunday, October 28th

Oh, I am athrill at your living, and agahst at your having to suffer such a hideous disease! I'm not sure about talking, but eating is surely one of the greatest pleasures of life. Hmm. Honestly, I didn't know you could get herpes other places. And I guess it goes away, right... Wow, that must have been awkward, but seems like you're feeling better, so hooray!

Oh, and yes, Asian days are fun! Though almost any culture days would be, I find Asian culture the most interesting. =O Oooh, I haven't drawn on the sidewalk in AGES! I really want to do that sometime...Ah, I need a friend with my inner-child mentality who will accompany me so I can proudly do the childish things I enjoy. (Like sidewalk chalk. And trick-or-treating. I've had to miss out lately. =( ) lol Sidewalk chalk is like so pure and innocent, to me...you don't really see like gang signs written in it. xD
