cows probably taste better

i went to yellowstone national park last saturday by transferring from newark, new jersey to denver, colorado, and then from colorado to cody, wyoming.

or so that was the plan.

apparently the airplanes at colorado are really particular about the heat, and it was 100+ degrees fahrenheit the day i flew into denver. twenty minutes from landing, the pilot was doing that fancy “ladies and gentlemen, we’re 23523523 feet from the ground (… or whatever), 20 minutes from landing in denver, colorado. it is currently over one hundred degrees, and i think we are going to die.” ok, maybe it didn’t sound exactly like that, and maybe the pilot did not actually propagate doom, but i know that was basically the gist.

(heck yeah, i did those fourth grade reading workbooks where you learn to read between the lines)

but anyway, so the crew basically repeated the temperature four more times, which is nothing new to me because not only is my home state of new jersey faithfully hot around this time of year but also so disgustingly humid i’m pretty sure i can breathe while inhaling moisture. you know, like a fish. but nooo, denver insisted that this heat put the pretty planes at risk, so my flight, which ordinarily obliges thirty passengers, slimmed its allowance to twelve.

and yeah, i wasn’t part of that.

i’ll spare of us of reliving what then followed, but i want to add that denver airport should man up and fly in the heat like… men. redundant? maybe. but yeah, you heard me, denver. you weren’t a man that day.

in other news, yellowstone national park is cool because it contains a supervolcano, and this volcano didn’t blow up in my face. i also like how buffalos and elk roam the land because they make reasonable scenery, and i was able to eat one or the other at just about every meal during my trip.

it’s really lovely out there. (by the way, i find it really odd how unreal and photoshopped the following photo looks)

canyon, WY

canyon, west yellowstone, wyoming

grand teton, WY

grand teton mountain, teton, WY

mammoth springs, WY

mammoth springs, WY

i included this last one because my sister thinks i look like an idiot. and …well, yeah.

Ha ha girl, you are funny & you made me laugh :) But, this heat is killing me. & they say that Africa is hot. I am sorry but here its worse. Back home we hardly hit the 110F …
Anyway, those pictures look great, and looks like it was worth the trip :) I always wanted to go to the Yellowstone National Park but haven’t got there yet. Maybe some day :)
And no, you don’t look like an idiot, just happy to be there ;)

Sounds like you had a blast transferring from plane to plane, or almost transferring from plane to plane. But I’m jealous you got to go to Yellowstone! It’s on my list of must visit places. Although, if I did visit, I’d be better off not knowing I ate buffaloes and elk…

The photos look awesome! It is funny how the scenery shots look photoshopped, but that’s saying that even photoshopped work look as real as if shot from life (the good photoshopping, that is).

It sucks that you weren’t allowed on the plane.. they should just make them so they’re fit for all temperatures, geeze :P It sounds like you still had fun though, and the scenery looks really pretty!

Thanks! I had my first day today, and it went pretty well :) I’m working as a cashier at a grocery store, and my friend who works there also was working after I left, and the girl who trained me said I was really good so that’s good for a first day :P haha. Hopefully it’s a good job :)

& I try to have a sound mind, but it’s kinda hard sometimes as I never know if it’s the right thing, or something that’s just going to hurt me more in the long run :/

It’s been a while since I’ve been on a plane hahaa. I find the crew are usually just polite and informative. :P I dislike the heat in Australia in summer because it gets SO hot, but what can you do. I don’t think the planes have problems with being in the heat though.

It is a little surreal how that photo looks Photoshopped. It’s a lovely photo though! :)

I hate heat so I don’t think I would have been too fond of flying in it either…especially if I was cooped up in a steel coffin with twenty-nine other people. Well, I’m just terrified of flying, so I probably wouldn’t have even gotten as far as you did.

I’ve always wanted to see mountains and all that western national park stuff. It looks really beautiful from your pictures.

Man, I accidentally clicked on this page and it actually was updated for once!

Glad you’ve been having a great summer.

That’s weird that the Denver airport makes a big deal about the heat. We have 100+ degree weather here every summer!

Those pictures are beautiful! That looks like a fun trip. I’d love to visit Yellowstone one day.

  9. Karen Says:

Wow the scenery looks amazingly beautiful! How i wish i could visit those places. The third photo looks like you’re having so much fun even with the heat. (^_^)

Connie – long time no seen!

    Thanks for the comment!

And how did you travel if you weren’t one of the chosen 12?

I really love the scenery of that photo. It’s frightening, like it demands respect, but it DOES look a little unreal at the same time. Hee, idiot ;) You look happy.

Ahahaha! Seriously? Isn’t flying high up in the air going to be hotter than just landing the stupid plane? And they had to…slim…down? I’m scared but curious at the same time. lol

Sounds like a nice trip. And hey, I like your diva pose, ok?
