pies of the chicken sort

it’s chilly out today, complete with rain and wetness! it’s reason for celebration because i am so ready for autumnal weather. though i’m just about to leave to go scavenge for some food, so by the time i get back, i’ll probably be complaining about how cold and wet i am and how this weather sucks, but… that hasn’t happened yet!

the other day, my friends and i made a chicken pot pie because i told them that i’m awesome at chicken pot pie creation, and it looked like good pie weather – kind of brisk and cloudy outside, like the presence of a warm pie and its scent would make the day more satisfying. only just about right after we began preparations, the sun came out, and it got really hot outside, and i had to turn on the air conditioning because the oven was making things uncomfortably warm.

sigh.

and during the pie extravaganza, a fire alarm sounded right when one of my pots was slightly burning (a little char on string beans and carrots really brings out the flavor, you know), so i had to turn off all of the burners and oven and dally on outside… i think it was just a drill, and there were police officers in the area that came up to anyone to ask “are you from this building? did everyone from your apartment get out safely? ok, cool,” and then walked away. um? isn’t it your job to go in and check who may or may not be burning inside and/or dying from smoke inhalation?

pie!

my brother says my presentation needs work, but slices of pie are so 1800 grandmas. chicken and vegetable mixture with crumbled pieces of crust is the pie of today, my friends. welcome to the new age.

OMG, pie! That one looks so BIG and STUFFY. D: I’ve only made one pie in my life and it was a cheese and ham pie. It was tiny. And only contained cheese and ham :I At least yours doesn’t look like an oversized cupcake!

CONNIEE thank you so much for your support and encouragement on my previous post – I’m sorry that its taken me so long to get back to you! Ugh, I’m not liking the damp weather right now – there was mist this morning and with my short hair (newly short, so I’m not used to it) its sooo difficult to manage! Frizzy hair that can’t even be tied back to hide it = terrible! That’s amazing that you made that on your own though – looks DELICIOUS. And whatever your brother says, its presentation is good enough for my stomach! =P I wish I knew how to make a chicken pot pie…although I’ve never tried. I want to be able to find time to get back into cooking!!

Also, to answer your question: life outside of the drama is basically…eh. I’m not sure just yet, when I’m not stressed I’m usually just eating and trying new places to eat with friends because I’m the ultimate foodie. =P I’m studying physiology by the way – with a minor in global poverty and practice. ^^

    Coooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeee :).
You make yummy looking chicken pot pie…*drools*.

I would like some, if you so kindly could spare some!

Outside CPP, I don’t really like pie. I think the only kind of “good” pie is CPP. In my opinion, of course…

<33 Thank you for your comment, love. I didn't reply on here 'cos I'm attempting a short comment day. And, also because I don't feel like spamming your comment area with my loquacious…fingers…O_o.

Thanks for your nice comment. I do feel better, much! And you are right, it is okay to be sad and that doesn’t make it insignificant. It’s important to cry once in a while, it proves you are still human. :)

That pie looks delicious. :D I’m not much of a baker or cook myself, so most of my food is shop bought. I find it’s not the same, but there’s not much I can do about it. You should send me some of that pot pie. ;)

I agree with your brother, the presentation does need a little work. However, it doesn’t really make a difference because it won’t be long before it’s all gone. :P

OMG THAT just made me really really hungry. You must cook really well!^^ Yum yum, I need to learn how to cook -_-

  6. Minna Says:

Haha that does not look like the pie I make :D I guess I’m very 1800 grandma huh? :D Never tried anything with chicken either, but I guess I could. I like broccoli. It goes with everything :D

  7. Cat Says:

That looks tasty! I love the comfort of chicken pot pie. Who cares about presentation when it tastes good :3 I’m so ready for autumn weather too. It’s still really hot and sunny here.

Nomnomnom! I love chicken pies. I don’t know how to make them as I’m not very much of a cook. Your chicken pie looks very yummy! I’m so tempted to look for a chicken pie recipe now. :)
I prefer taste over presentation. No doubt presentation is important, after all, first impression matters, but if the food tastes good, I don’t really mind how it looks like. As long as they don’t look like puke or poo, I’m okay with it. Lol.

Ok that policeman is dumb. He should personally go into the building and check. I bet he was just trying to make things easy for himself. Bah!

Ooo yum yum. I actually think it looks pretty darn good! And healthy too with all of those vegetables. I’ve never eaten chicken pie. Those are not really a finnish thing.

I don’t know what your brother is talking about, that looks perfect to me! :D What lazy cops! That wouldn’t give me much confidence if there was ever a real fire!!
