SITE / times of yore

[SITEMAP] [TIMES OF YORE] [TERMS OF USE]
[EXCUSES, EXCUSES] [INDEX]

we never can let go of the past now, can we? personally, i like to remember it, and while grabaduck.com has had a long one, here are its previous layouts as of july 2006.

the different elements that created each layout are here for viewing, until i decide i'm really really cheap (instead of just really cheap) and will take them down for more space. and naturally, if you've at least spent two seconds here, you must have noticed my passion for talking. i've included senseless notes, hurray! everyone loves senseless notes!
[01] [02] [03] [preview] v.6: I'M NOT A DUCK?
[QUICK] this was my reappearance after a year-hiatus, so it was just quickly put together with some photoshop brushes. i originally wanted a duck behind the site name, but i couldn't find one under photoshop's custom shapes (damn you, adobe), so this rabbit got the role instead. i really enjoyed the colors of this layout; i thought they were very appropriate for summer, and they just made me happy. :) (created in photoshop CS)

[FONTS] (1) joyful juliana; (2) marathon II.

[MUSE] get the site opened again... quick.
[01] [02] [03] [preview] v.6: SAVE TONIGHT
"save tonight / and fight the break of dawn" - eagle eye cherry, "save tonight."

[QUICK] two photographs are merged together here - a bridge in pennsylvania and another of a sunset (the latter duplicated). i believe my brother took both of these, and he was most likely using a canon digital SLR. edited in (can you guess it?) PS CS.

[FONTS] (1) book antiqua; (2) JP hand.

[MUSE] i probably heard the song somewhere and got warm inside. that, or i got it stuck in my head. you know how they say you need to listen to a song in order to get it out of your mind? well, sometimes making really dark layouts that resemble forest fires helps, too.
[01] [02] [03] [preview] v.5: THE LITTLE PENGUIN
[QUICK] the header is compiled of two images,  both taken while i was visiting in new york. one models the lovely 'the little penguin' brand of alcohol (woohoo), and another of st. peter's cathedral, captured with the infamous canon digital elph S400, everything edited in PS CS.

[FONTS] (1) castellar.

[MUSE] this was after a particularly long 911 hiatus, where i must have closed the site in the early days of september and reopened ...um, late (yeah, who am i to actually remember dates?). i was just doodling in photoshop, in hopes of inspiration, and this transpired. i wasn't preoccupied with any song at the time, so this version is named by alcohol, yaay.
[01] [02] [preview] v.4: THESE DAYS
"these days, the stars hang out of reach / these days, there ain't a light up on the street / these days are fast, nothing lasts / no one wants to be themselves these days / still, there's nothing to hold onto but these days" - bon jovi, "these days."

[QUICK] one photograph of a poor child (but one who deserved it) taken with a canon digital elph S400, edited in PS CS.

[FONTS] (1) journal.

[MUSE] i've recently rediscovered the magic of mr. jovi's earlier albums. although i recommend all of the lyrics whose songs are featured on grabaduck, this one is really up there. i was toying around with photos in photoshop (hmm, makes sense) when i just enjoyed the colors for this particular image. the story behind the picture is actually happy and has really nothing to do with the story of the song. the dude in the photo got candy chucked at his beloved private part, and ace photographer (yours truly) captured the aftermath. lovely.
[01] [02] [03] [04] [preview] v.3: NOBODY
"not everybody has a brain / not everybody's going sane / not everybody wishes well / not everybody's heaven's hell / sometimes there's someone to blame / sometimes there's a place for shame / sometimes good's better than bad / sometimes good's better than bad / sometimes you're better than me / if you're not here to hear me scream / am i silent like a dream?" - five for fighting; "nobody."

[QUICK] one photo by david, mon frere, edited in photoshop CS. my favorite part of this layout is probably that one image (of some tower in PA), which either makes or breaks the blend. i'm hoping it made it, yeah. i couldn't find inspiration amid my own mess of photos, and my brother allows me to use his prints, heh. i don't think they sell anyway; they're outrageously priced (i wouldn't buy that for five dollars), but feel free to buy them yourself. i guess this wasn't quick, and perhaps more of an advertisement. :)

[FONTS] (1) jp hand.

[MUSE] nada. there isn't always a reason for change. i do fancy the photograph though. haha, fancy.
[01] [02] [03] [no preview] v.2: STUCK IN A MOMENT
"and if the nights run over / and if the days won't last / and if our way should falter / along this stony pass / it's just a moment / this time will pass" - u2; "stuck in a moment."

[QUICK] three photos of stanley park, vancouver, canada, taken in summer of '06 with a dingy, really oudated but still loved canon digital elph S400, edited in adobe photoshop CS.

[FONTS] (1) james fajardo.

[MUSE] friends of mine moved recently. as triplets, the three of them migrated down to the south to north carolina to become farmers and grow corn. apparently, i don't have a very open-minded idea as to what NC is like, but i'm not in a very unbiased mood at the moment, seeing as how that state robbed me of my childhood friends. anyway, as silly as it might seem, "stuck in a moment" is just really applicable right now. besides, it's an excuse to use more photos from vancouver. :) check out the greens.
[01] [02] [03] [no preview] v.1 THOSE DAMNED POP-UPS
there were actually four separate layouts here because i was really crazy.

blog - i guess it kind of reflected on the corruption of society. i actually complain a lot about today's world, but luckily, grabaduck hasn't seen any of that. yet.

(1) "people living their lives for you on TV / they say they're better than you and you agree" - jewel; "who will save your soul;"
(2) "they couldn't escape from you / couldn't be free of you / and now there's no way out" - james blunt; "wisemen."

girl - "i don't want to be some average anybody" - train; "counting airplanes."

the site and extra pages hardly qualify as layouts, and they didn't feature any lyrics (gasp!).

[QUICK] blog - i actually used to pixel a lot, and although they were crappy, it was still pixeling. :) this was the result of picking up where i left off, a few years ago, heh. i'm a sucker for that notebook theme for blogs, but i think i'm equally a sucker for getting sick of them real quick. anyway, pixeled completely in photoshop CS.

girl - three random photos blended together into one big photograph of the view from the balcony into the neighbor's property (connie = stalker); photoshop CS.

er, site and extra doesn't count again. they were just random brushes with some text. how pretty.

[FONTS] (1) cataclysmic; (2) daniel; (3) jayne print; (4) hans hand; (5) forte; (6) JSL ancient.

[MUSE] grabaduck.com was having trouble previously, and this was the first layout after the revamp. i completely wiped out every file and started new. i suppose the motivator was just to get something up. and quick.
